A study on COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness has been published after being blocked from a government health journal. The study in by JAMA Network Open shows the vaccine is about 55% effective against hospitalizations and reduces emergency visits by 50%. The findings aren't surprising, as the vaccines have been proven to be effective. The paper gained attention after Trump administration appointees rejected it for publication in a CDC journal, citing design flaws. A number of researchers have defended the study's design, saying it's reliable and widely used. The study uses a “test-negative design” to compare the COVID-19 test results of vaccinated and unvaccinated patients.

“A #covid vaccine study that the RKJr’s appointed CDC’s chief halted this spring over ‘methodological concerns’ was published Tuesday in Journal of the American Medical Assoc (JAMA) Network Open, a leading peer-reviewed medical journal.
