Critical AI Literacies for Resisting and Reclaiming | Radboud University

This course is designed to foster critical AI literacies in participants to empower them to develop ways of resisting or reclaiming AI in their own practices and social context.

An essay on 'Epistemic Safety' and #healthcare #innovation

πŸ“Œ Technological Encounters in a Knowledge Economy: An Epistemic X-Ray

The essay takes an Epistemic X-ray of neoliberal knowledge economies and the infinite growth metanarrative in late capitalism, and situates 'epistemic safety' as a key locus of the contemporary struggles and solidarities for #climate, #democracy and equitable planetary health.

What liberatory capacities might be unlocked for #systemsmedicine when we think about health as planetary health?

What happens in planetary #watersheds affect human #health.

Freshwater algae are vital components of aquatic ecosystems and #biodiversity. Freshwater algae have multiple valuable functions, as indicators of environmental health, and as nutritional ingredients that contribute to human, ecosystem and planetary health.

Health is inherently political and #queer which calls for systems thinking, and thinking at the interstices.

To achieve healthcare based on systems medicine, and to recognize the complexity, liminality, biopolitics and queerness of health and illness, engineering and biotechnology are useful but largely insufficient.

Systems Medicine: Physiological Circuits and the Dynamics of Disease Paperback –
by Uri Alon (Author)

Why do we get certain diseases, whereas other diseases do not exist?

Starting from basic laws, the book derives why physiological circuits are built the way they are.

The book explores, in three parts, hormone circuits, immune circuits, and aging and age-related disease. It culminates in a periodic table of diseases.

Obesity (as measured by BMI) is linked to many health problems that can be fatal. Using a genetic risk score including 2,446 variants, obesity was found to increase the risk of 316 different diseases, being connected to a variety of health problems in the circulatory, genitourinary, respiratory, musculoskeletal, and dermatologic systems.

Genomics and phenomics of body mass index reveals a complex disease network - Nature Communications

Elevated body mass index is heritable and associated with many health conditions that impact morbidity and mortality. Here, the authors identify greater than 900 genetic loci for body mass index (BMI) and find over 300 diagnoses associated with increasing BMI.
