El 1 de junio de 1995, 𝙈𝙖𝙭𝙞𝙨 se hizo pública y entró a Wall Street como una de las compañías más peculiares de la industria del videojuego.

Fundada por Will Wright y Jeff Braun, 𝙈𝙖𝙭𝙞𝙨 no vendía “juegos” tradicionales: vendía simulaciones. 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 convirtió la planeación urbana en entretenimiento; SimEarth jugó con la evolución planetaria; SimAnt llevó la estrategia al mundo microscópico; y SimLife exploró ecosistemas artificiales.

@annaleen @charliejane so awesome to have the #SimEarth segment in your latest episode. I played the crap out of that game. Also #SimLife and #SimAnt. I miss when Maxis was its own company making "edutainment" software. Ever since EA bought them....

@ash @alxd Exactly! And to make it more packing as a game and easier to grasp the logic intuitively, ecosystem effects should probably be faster than in reality.

It might work to create some #simearth inspired logic for dynamically adjusting #minetest #biomes in accordance to how players interfere.

The original soundtrack made liberal use of the SNES's delay/reverb, which gave it a unique sound. Trying to capture that same essence was a challenge.

@Thelunarfox I was terrible at it too. My first copy of #SimEarth was borrowed from a friend. I was a kid and didn't have the instruction manual so I had no idea what I was doing. I've always loved artificial life games though, and had a blast just watching species rise and fall over the planet's lifetime. Fond memories.

A few nights back I dreamed that #SimEarth received an in-depth review from a popular YouTube channel and was rediscovered by a whole new generation of people.

I loved that game, along with #SimAnt.

I wonder what it'd take to develop my own SimEarth clone? 🤔
