Reenacting drama.
Racism & sexism is causing issues at large for my reenacting company to the point it might implode. And if it does because people can't take a principled stand to support women or minorities, I am okay with it.
It would mean I might no longer be an 18th century reenactor anymore, which considering I haven't been on the field for 5+ years, isn't as hard to stomach.
Book 2/40
The City-State of Boston by Mark Peterson
History, city biography. 4.25*
I love a good city biography (different from a history as it treats the city as its own entity) and this one was super interesting. Learned a bunch, occluding that New England almost broke away from the US in 1814, but were stopped by the surprise victory at the Battle of New Orleans. As good as Montefiore's book on Jerusalem.

A friend on twitter alerted me to this astonishing thread of a #RevWar fort unveiled in a house restoration. And the shocking amount of stuff associated with the house that the owner has curated.
I have the threadreader unroll here, you don't have to go to X.
My house also sits on a fort site, but there's no trace of it today--but I have found a few square nails and porcelain chips. I'm super jealous.
#WIPWednesday is a little linen trim for an #18thcentury neckerchief. This is a known pattern from my region and #RevWar period, but was also made elsewhere.
My most unusual pillow is this one that I had custom made by a local woodworker, based on the plans in this French Alps style. From that book on #Queyras lace.
For #SomervilleMA area folks: tomorrow is the 248th Flag Raising on the top of Prospect Hill.
There's a walk from city hall, up to the tower, a short program, cider, snacks. The museum will have city history magnets and other tchotchkes.
Tower might be open (typically is), but I don't know that for sure. Fabulous views of the area.
