That's a new one: renting agency in #Scotland (#DJAlexander) asking for a fee to provide a reference? Is that really legal?

So it’s 4 weeks today since the house got stripped. I e mailed the letting agent to ask when the 2nd damp survey would be done.
Her reply…
‘The walls will need to stay like that for a few months im afraid – I did explain this over the phone when we spoke. Basically the property needs to breath through the warmer months so w can obtain a better reading your damp course – It will be summer by the time we have a better idea of the best course of action.’

I have until Monday to get my house sorted out, what I really need to do is rest, but not much chance of that.

Just had to go save my bin (because of course it’s bin day on storm day) two guys working outside on neighbours house, just watched it blow into the road.
Bin day gives me major anxiety anyway, so didn’t need this. But I’m lucky if this is the worst that happens to me today.
Still sounds like out of tune bagpipes and alarms going off in here.
It was difficult to walk, so definitely not going out today.
I was going to nip to aldi this morning to get some veg, but we’ve had a warning for life threatening wind 😩 plus a chimney fell off when I went the other week, and it wasn’t even windy.
I came down this morning to the heart garland really going for it, and it sounds like out of tune bag pipes or something inside. It’s gotten worse since I took these videos.
Adding second vid in replies, as wouldn’t let me do two.
Damp specialists can’t come until first week in Jan. There was a roofer here this morning, but they didn’t knock or anything 🤷
Letting agents have received my e mails about damp and roof concerns, let’s see what happens.
House hunting (to rent) is exhausting. Tenancy is up end of July, but looking anyway, might see what options for ending early are, or just shame them into letting us leave without extra payments etc.
It’s all student/house share, or too expensive. And there’s either 1 less bedroom and/or no dining room and generally smaller, for more than I pay now. Or ones that would be ok, are already let.
Think I’m going to have to sign up with some local letting agents.
