"Measly French measures have little impact on Israel’s weapons makers
Israeli participants at this week’s Eurosatory arms show in Paris have become quite accomplished at spitting out their croissants to protest restrictions placed on them.
Because of a “discriminatory policy” – as The Jerusalem Post describes it – Israeli firms may display “defensive” but not offensive weapons.
The distinction is bizarre. As Israel’s arms industry relies on an illegal occupation for its profitablity, all its products should be viewed as offensive in all senses of that word.
Moreover, the stipulations issued by the French government haven’t really driven Israel away from Eurosatory.
Displays of Israeli weapons theoretically had to be boarded up if they had been used to cause destruction or had been designed for that purpose. As the measures fell short of a ban on Israeli participation, Israel and its weapons industry could still capitalize on the obliteration they have inflicted to seek business opportunities internationally.
Worth $19.2 billion in 2025, Israeli weapons exports have risen fourfold over a decade, according to new data from the state’s defense ministry."
