Dr Albert Hofmann synthesized new forms until number 25 when flying purple giraffes blocked the lab's #portcullis.

Just noticed the date.

On this day, 20 years ago, I started work at Portcullis Computer Security Ltd (now part of Cisco).

Since then, I've pen tested, red teamed, built SOCs, responded to incidents, written code, managed a team, presented several dozen talks and white papers and dropped over 150 CVEs and more. I've also moved from working in a team with 7 in it, to working with a team of 70, to today working for Cisco, one of the biggest infrastructure companies in the world.

When I interviewed one of the questions was "what makes you think you can find vulnerabilities" and a constant theme over the time was where I would specialise. I hope I've answered the first, still not sure of the second.

The reason I've stayed so long, learning from so many of the very best has kept things fresh. More than a few thanks to be shared around.

It's been a ride!
