@andyjennings

Kos may be on to something with his thesis, but the article is tiring to read (to me at least) because it reinforces what I truly believe: that much of the electorate is composed of dull-witted, non-thinkers longing for a romanticised past that can never be re-lived (the past is past FFS).

And instead of looking forward, thinking about how to get beyond our current woes, how to refashion our political and economic systems to give all of us a better chance of survival and a better life, these utter twits are delivering themselves and the rest of us to more of the same shit that destroyed their past. What a bunch of fucks!

I no small a measure, I also blame most Journos for platforming all the wrong individuals who couldn’t give a toss about you and I and will fuck us around for decades to come (accelerating our ecological annihilation) if they get into govt. My msg to Boomers and Xers is: Get a grip, Stop whinning and do something remotely intelligent and constructive for a change. Waking people up to this is where Journos would be more useful IMO — don’t tell us why we’re in the shit, tell us how to get out of the mess we’re in for goodness sake.

"If one nation is the answer to your question, then you’re asking the wrong question! "

#Australia #PHON

Well, what do you know… more oxygen for the #Racist party.

(Reported by Dan Jervis-Bardy)
“One Nation leader Pauline Hanson is scheduled to appear at the National Press Club, providing her a nationally televised platform to sell her plan for the country. Hanson has been booked to deliver a “leader’s address” to the Canberra-based institution on 17 June, according to the club’s website.

The speech will mark another example of the mainstreaming of Hanson, whose rightwing populist party is the most popular in the country according to some opinion polls. Hanson on Monday fielded media questions about the possibility of becoming prime minister despite One Nation holding just two of the 150 seats in the lower house. “Do I have the ability? You bet I have,” she told 2GB on Monday.” (Source: The Guardian - online)

I might just watch it… I’m in need of a laugh lately…

Oy… not all boomers are crazy nazies! This ‘generations’ finger pointing is really getting to me.

Yes, you should be concerned that you are being identified with a specific *cohort* (X-gen) based on birth dates as #PHON deviants. Just as I’m concerned at being identified with a specific *cohort* (Boomer) based on birth dates as the #LuckyGeneration and the #Mum&DadBank and also PHON deviants to boot.

Thank you msm (#Murdocracy #FoxNewstainment #StokesMedia,#FascistPropagandaMachine, etc.) for tooling up #SocietalDivisions with #Malicious and #Devious #ShitTalking.

I can’t begin to tell you how much #BrainWashing we are all being subjected to and how well it’s taking… Let’s all push back.. let’s all boycott #FakeNews by not watching and shouting it down on every platform we can access. Let’s kill this thing dead FFS.

@Old_IT_geek
Sure, #AlboPM is the best of three evils (#Labor, #LNP and #PHON) but there are alternatives if voters bother to think about it longer than a couple of minutes. And, I get your point about #SkyNews but would also point out it’s free to air everywhere. Here again, if voters were to think for more than a couple of minutes, the #Murdocracy wouldn’t have such a hold on their lazy brains.

Sorry if I sound harsh, but choosing a lesser evil rather than working to get better representatives into #Parliament is just apathetic #democracy and there is an enormous price to pay for such #complacency.

“The Labor Party has, for the first time in its history, become the natural home of educated youth and it has done so while losing its grip on the outer-suburban and regional working-class voters who built it.”
I pulled this quote from #KosSamaras ‘article in #JohnMenadue ‘s Pearls & Irritations ( https://johnmenadue.com/post/2026/05/three-australias-new-polling-shows-deepening-divide/)

It’s an interesting piece. It denies #Labor ‘s voting-base roots is a bulwark against #PHON penetration of the Lower House because Labor has vacated it and in so doing has left a vacuum of resentment, anger and protest grounded in the 90s which PHON will harvest in future elections. Labor’s support is growing in the the ‘class’ that the #LNP have left to fend for themselves as the #Noalition lurches further and further to right-wing populism bleeding support all the while.

Kos ends with sobering words:”
For three decades after 1945, Australia experienced something genuinely exceptional: shared, broad-based prosperity. That period is over. We are returning, more or less, to the historical norm. The politics of the next decade will be the politics of who gets blamed for it, and which bloc holds together long enough to find an answer, or not.”

I don’t know about you, but I’m not rejoicing at that pessimistic prognostic.

Three Australias: new polling shows deepening divide

Changing voting patterns are no longer a reaction to short-term events, they are a rebellion against inequality, says Kos Samaris.

Pearls and Irritations

Thank you #TheGuardian for calling out the disgusting and Trumpian behaviour of #PHON #Hanson and Ashby.
Not actually surprised because this reflects their actual ignorant vulgar personalities. However the crude insults of Trump directed at journalists are unacceptable here.

One Nation’s attacks on the media are straight from the Donald Trump playbook. We must call them out

The media’s reaction to One Nation’s anti-democratic outbursts has been supine, a shameful abrogation of the obligation to defend the freedom of the press

The Guardian

I had an early dinner tonight and thought I’d use that down time to watch #ABC #Insider because I knew #DavidPocock was on the bill. There’s not much that I’ve drawn from watching it (hopefully not a bellyache from eating too fast).

Pocock said all the right things despite #Speersie’s efforts to repeatedly ‘corner’ him by asking the same question using various words, not listening to the answers, and giving #PHON oxygen (the leopard hasn’t changed his spots).

The panel grudgingly swatted away most of the msm and social media anti-tax propaganda without really explaining it for the audience (the panel could very have been reluctant to give the govt brownie points if they explained how the tax system actually works). Jeezzz, there’s a lot of dumbfucks out there…

Speersie was speersie;
The panel was the beige kind of panel Insiders normally has on;
The set has not changed (forgot how horrid the colours were, nearly put me off my dinner);
LIttle useful information was disseminated, at least not that I heard;
And I stopped watching when Pocock was done with because… well, becuase it’s #FoxSiders of course.

RE: https://aus.social/@eddyjokovich/116593150729197308

There is a lot of legislative work to be done if govt(s) are going to do something about putting Australia on better footings to cope with what is coming down the line. And #Madhats (#LNP #Nats #PHON) aren’t ever going to do anything about it. Our meak and timid #Labor govt(s) are too caught up in the #Newscycle to roll up their collective sleeves and get to work (time is running out, that much is obvious) and that leaves a #CluelessElectorate , too #UnderThePump to see their way clear to send the only electoral message that ought to matter to all Australians, that is to vote for the #Greens next time around. Because only the Greens will act out of #Ideology (the good and prgressive kind for the greater good) and not #ElectoralSelfInterests (a nice way of saying #Corruption and #StateTheft #NeoLiberalism )

#AusPol

@jhaue
#Queensland the #Corruption State…
It’s seriouly hilarious to see all those RWNJs voting for polies who line their pockets and their party’s coffers while in the electorate are stupid #PHON and #LNP voters also mad about inflation, afraid to lose their jobs to immigrants, unable to afford a house or rental, and raging over fuel prices. Well, it would be extremely funny if it wasn’t for the sad state of politics there.
