There’s nothing like holding up a mirror to society, and #CathyWilcox does a better job of it than most cartoonists IMO.

Love this one — as scary as it is. Tbf, not all Australians are that bloody stupid but there are more than enough who are to cause me real concern here. We need a couple of #AntiGina #millionaires to splash some cash into public campaigns to wake voters up to the mess we’re in and how to get out of it.

Yeah, kicking out all those “GOP trained advisors”, stopping using their language & concepts, getting rid of the bots & bot farms pretending to be One (Mono) Notion “supporters”, these’d all be good steps. 😀

Monoculture.
Sending the Limeys, Jocks, Evans and Paddys, as well as their non-male brethren and all their convict relations, home is all very well but we still wouldn't have a monoculture.

What Hanson means here is white, white more white, and only white.

I’m not sure I’d even bother. Whenever I get a wiff of #PHONism from anyone, I tend to cut the conversation short and walk away — there’s no convincing a biggot they’re a biggot.

Rather, I rather punch holes in their comments (before disengaging), like, Japan is not a monoculture. Ainu people in Hokkaido, Ryukyuans on Okinawa, and the many Korean everywhere in Japan. Japan also has a sizeable immigration intake and while not truly a multicultural society, it has its pockets of many other cultures. So much for #monoculture. #Pauline ought to have been truthful and call it post-colonial popular nationalism and white supremacy racism, because that is what #PHON espouses.

Financial Times columnist describes unusual phone call with Trump during Iran conflict period

Financial Times columnist Ed Luce recounted an unusual phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump during an interview on The Mona Charen Show, describing the exchange as disjointed and difficult to end. According to Luce, the call took place around the early stages of a conflict involving Iran and was initiated at the request of his editor. He said Trump had previously been friendly and responsive in earlier conversations, but this particular interaction felt different and increasingly repetitive after about 15 minutes. Luce described the experience as “very strange” and compared its tone to “Alice in Wonderland,” noting that he eventually looked for a way to politely end the call, telling Trump he must be very busy. During the conversation, Trump reportedly asked Luce questions about possible military and strategic decisions related to Iran, including references to oil and Kharg Island. Luce responded that he was not qualified to advise on such matters and attempted to steer the conversation back to journalism. He also suggested that it became apparent early in the conflict that Trump was seeking potential offramps or alternative options in the situation. The discussion later referenced broader anecdotes shared by Mona Charen, who said Trump often seeks informal advice from people he encounters socially, including members of his golf club. Charen described him as someone who casually asks individuals for opinions on major geopolitical issues. The report highlights the informal and at times unpredictable nature of the interaction as described by Luce, framing it as an anecdote rather than a formal political statement.

To be frank, I think #PHON operatives and their supporters are too bigotted to pay any atttention to their self-contradictory utterrings. Once a #Fascist, always a facsist.

As all journalists/essayists worth their salt ought to do, Annable did her reseach. Gosh, she even read #Pauline’s memoir for Dog’s sake… now that’s worth a medal or two surely… I’ll admint I don’t have to stomach to go through that ordeal.

The less said, on this platform (because most of us don’t need reminding) about #PaulineHanson the better. Unless of course it is in the course of throwing some more ridicule on the ridiculest: towit #AnnabelCrabb — who suddenly begins to be awake to it —and her critique of #PHON call to #monoculture:

“Pauline Hanson herself, meanwhile, popped back into the chat regularly over the week to offer helpful definitional prompts including that Japan is a monoculture.

Now, this in itself should have been a clue that it was well past time for everybody to go home for a lie down.

Because if there's anything more hallucination-inducing than the woman who 30 years ago had her undies in a bunch about too many Asians suddenly fancying we should be a bit more like Japan, I don't care to imagine it.

And yet. And yet. Unbelievably, there were still players willing to trudge out and engage, seriously, with the question of whether we should be Japan.”

Thanks for the merriment Annabel, may all your future pieces and vids carry the same clarity of political nous. And for all those polies still wondering what monoculture is, I’ll give you all a clue… it’s about #Cults … sit with that for a while.

Hanson spawned the silliest semantic beard-stroking in 20 years

We've come a long way since it was Pauline Hanson who didn't know the meaning of big words.

@John Of course she did. 😠
Never, ever forget Ashby tried to get donations and backing from the #NRA for #PHON.
These are the people they are. Now they have #Rinehart's US influence to even aid that kind of horror.

Are politics really changing? Or are we simply witnessing out-of-touch politicians evolving; in starting to cotton-on to the power of social media (though still with toxic sites preferenced over community fora) ?

Hanson faces scrutiny as media landscape shifts around her

Parliament House has been Pauline's World lately but increased visibility comes with increased scrutiny and this week revealed that One Nation is not untouchable.
