Progress today with #Proxmox on my #OptiPlex micro.. I can access the GUI from my laptop using the wired network and created a test VM. ✅
..and my #Sonoff kit arrived and seems solid. 🥳
My problem now is to get internet connectivity because I am using a mobile hotspot. The OptiPlex has WiFi (USB and possibly internally) but I can't configure them without internet access (to get required packages).
I need to share internet from the laptop and setup routing on the micro.

@rnDoug thanks but although symptoms made me think this was a different issue, I now believe it's mainly to do with the connector on the monitor/TV.
I've been able to get it working enough to install #Proxmox and have ordered a new cheap monitor for when the existing one fails.
Challenge now is to get internet on the #OptiPlex using only a mobile hotspot - so no way to install WiFi support. I'm hoping I can do this with a wired connection to my laptop.

Amazing #fuckery #Microsoft - even if I wanted #Windows on this machine I can't set it up.
I decided to try the Windows setup on my Dell #OptiPlex Micro. It won't let me through without creating an MS account, but now it wants me to prove I'm human by asking me to "press and hold" a button which keeps succeeding, and then asks again. After five times I'm giving up.
Can anyone help me with a Dell #OptiPlex?
Boot starts Windows setup (which I don't want), but pressing F2 during boot seems to be invoking a video mode that my very old HDMI monitor doesn't support.
It has an HDMI signal but the display shows "NO SUPPORT", unlike if I just let it boot to the Windows installer which displays correctly.
I'm trying to get to the BIOS so I can boot from a USB with #Proxmox installer and then setup #HomeAssistant using the Px script.

As a #Windows enthusiast since my school days, I was finally able to upgrade my aging #Dell #OptiPlex 3020M with #Fedora Server 43 a few days ago - and what can I say? Easy and quick installation, hardware was 100% supported: fantastic. Setting it up via #Cockpit is a dream. Currently, two VMs are running for #homeassistant and #plexmediaserver (also with Fedora Server 43, of course).
I'm considering upgrading my #Windows 11 Laptop to Fedora 43 as well, but I'm still hesitating because #Affinity v3 is not compatible.
