Having built a solution around mosquitto auth plugins, working out how to migrate to something new, I need to reuse the same underlying mongo db that has the credentials stored in it.

Both of the plugins could work with the existing database, but I don't think there is a current plugin that supports the latest mosquitto

Best thought so far is to move to EMQX and make use of the HTTP auth and write a little server to handle the auth look up

hmm, does mosquitto not support bridge mode with MQTTv5?

Trying to bridge from EMQX to mosquitto 2.1.2 with MQTTv5 and bridge mode enabled and it fails with "protocol error"

Turn the protocol down to v3.1.1 and it woks

A new version of the Eclipse Paho #MQTT library was released this morning. Some performance improvements, event streams, and fixes to v5 error handling.

Upgraded Home Assistant from 2026.2.2 to 2026.3.3 last night and it stopped reading the status of my zigbee devices via MQTT.

I'm running HAOS in a proxmox VM and zigbee2mqtt 2.1.1 in a docker container hosted in a different physical with a ConBee2 radio.

To check connectivity issues I had the integration listen for # and saw state updates for my zigbee sensors.

What finally fixed it was going into zigbee2mqtt's settings and disabling and re-enabling Home Assistant integration.
