It's Sunday and I was updating some bits on my Raspberry Pi Zero 2 and thought, damn thing is a little trooper! So I did a small write-up on it.
Given all the talk about bigger data centres, more processing power. Sometimes it's nice to go back a little bit and see what you can do with less (much much less)
I am currently writing this on my iMac. Next to me is my work MacBook Pro, and beside that is an older Microsoft Surface Pro currently running Linux Mint. Behind me is my Creality Ender 3v2 3D printer with a Raspberry Pi 3 connected to it running OctoPrint. Just to the side of me is another Raspberry Pi 3 running my secondary PiHole with Unbound as my DNS resolver (my primary is downstairs wired into the main router).
Immich is a freaking treasure! After rebuilding my server I had to fight with Nextcloud, even had to end up recreating a user account and restore things from backup. Immich I just spun the docker up, pointed it at the drive I had Immich on, and it came back like it had never been gone! Which is great because I wasn’t looking forward to 20,000 photos and videos backing up again.
Latest MXLinux update fubar’d my install. Spent most of today trying to get it back to working, but looks like I might have to nuke it from orbit and reinstall. Not overly excited about having to setup Nextcloud and Immich all over again.
Fortunately all data is backed up so nothing is going to be lost - other than a lot of time and sanity.
Trying to buy a PC case for my home server with 4 HDDs feels like looking for a VHS rewinder. Everything is glass, RGB, and “tool-less SSD slots.” Meanwhile, I just need some simple 3.5” trays. Guess mechanical drives are truly a relic of a bygone era. 💀
I've been using NextCloud for a long time, but it is really grating on me now.
What should I look at using.
Requirements:
* Linux & Android clients. Mac desktop and phone clients probably too
* Auto uploading phone pictures
* Web client
* Not something so convoluted that the only supported install method is a container, let alone a ecosystem of containers.
