#Oxo garlic press felt like an all-steel design in my hand but they used plastic for the hinge where all of the force caused it to snap today as I was pressing some garlic. Now I have an excuse to buy a superior tool.

Der gute @jan hat zu Hause aussortiert und einige echte Schnäppchen von Oxo 86 für mich und @Captainborg klar gemacht. Da es in Berlin bekanntlich sehr schwierig ist, sich zu treffen, wenn man nicht im selben Kiez wohnt, hat es jetzt fast ein halbes Jahr gedauert, bis die Platten zu mir kamen 🤣

Die wohl bekannteste Leuchtreklame, die keine sein durfte. Der OXO Tower in #London, 1928 in seiner jetzigen Form erbaut, sollte die Werbung der Brühwürfelmarke OXO darstellen, aber damals war Werbung entlang der Themse verboten. Also bekam das ehemalige Kraftwerk Fenster, die reiiiin zufällig aussahen wie O und X. 🤷‍♀️ // The most famous illuminated advertisement that wasn't allowed to be an advert. The #OXO Tower in London, rebuilt in its current style in 1928, was supposed to advertise Oxo beef stock cubes, but #advertising along this part of the Thames was banned at the time. This is the #OXO Good Grips #mandoline pusher device I mentioned yesterday. The black ABS reinforcement that you can see the edge of triples the thickness of the pusher plate, and is much tougher than the polystyrene I'm fairly sure the plate is actually made of. That plate should NEVER EVER have been an unreinforced, un-buttressed plastic part that thin. The design is acceptable *if the plate were made from food-grade stainless steel*. Iffy, but probably OK, if it were brass. Dubious in Zamac or another zinc die-casting alloy, or in aluminum. But absolutely not acceptable in plastic. This should never have passed #engineering review. It was GOING to break. The only question was when.

After wiping my main system, which is not so old and has an nvme drive, during instllation hajime came to a standstill while attempting to execute sgdisk. I went to sleep and dreamt my solution should be in line 621?! Now see if it works...
