Mein zweites Mixtape für DarknessForever

Am letzten Samstag hatte mein drittes Mixtape für DarknessForever Premiere und ich habe mein zweites Mixtape noch gar nicht vorgestellt. Das hole ich jetzt schnell nach, bevor in den nächsten Tagen dann ein Artikel zum neuesten Mixtape erscheint. Von meinem ersten Mixtape für DarknessForever hatte ich ja schon berichtet und auch von meinen Plänen für das zweite Mixtape. Ich habe Songs herausgesucht, die vor 1980 erschienen sind und quasi als Wegbereiter oder Anfänge der Gothic- oder New-Wave-Bewegung gelten. Inspiriert wurde ich dabei von dem Video „Before Bauhaus: How Goth Became Goth“ (Invidious-Link).

Most of my friends have either moved away or have “aged out” of going to #punk shows, so I don’t find out about shows the way I used to: from my friends

I’ve started scouring all the places I can to find out about shows. I tried one of the big, yet not owned by a corporate megalord (yet), sites whose sole purpose is to list live music events.

One of the first artists they recommended I follow to find out about upcoming shows was: the Beatles, a band that stopped touring over 59 years ago.

While self-described by the Pere Ubu-coined term "avant-garage", it's hard to put a finger on DANA. The controlled chaos of the enduring project, formed by singer/theremin player Madeline Jackson in 2015, oscillates between genres. Offering a marriage of populist rock impulses with Dadaist proclivities, DANA contains multitudes (and curiously no one named Dana). With a live show that's full of mystique and menace, both equal parts seductive and unhinged; DANA lives to push the envelope of sonic manipulation and offer an experience not soon forgotten.
Following the release of late 2019's Glowing Auras and Black Money and its subsequent shelving of Spring 2020 touring plans, the band took their show on the road again just as soon as they could. Having spent the last four years extensviley touring North America, DANA is once again ready to commit their particular brand of weirdo rock n' roll to vinyl with the release of Clean Living ; their self-produced and self-released third studio album this June.
