After years on only knitting socks and shawls I finally braved the mittens, and this time also dipped my toes into colour work. They're knit in size 8/10 but were too short for my 8 year old, but that might be a me-made problem.

This morning's weather: -9°C/15°F, no wind

I tried out the new #mittens - they worked great! I think the temp will be about -16°C/2°F tomorrow... I have confidence these mittens will keep my fingers warm... although I might wear extra inserts inside the mittens.

My current WIP are the Tradition Mittens, by Sofia's tales. Apart from accidentally making them bulletproof (hit gauge with 'rauma 3-tråds’ (108m/50g) instead of ‘rauma finull’ (175m/50g)) I seem to have hit a bit of a snafu: they're too small (or my fingers are too long?).

I'm now weighing my options: agressively blocking them or cutting off the cuff, adding a bit of pattern and grafting. Anyone have opinions or suggestions on that one?
