What's your opinion on writing which seeks to imitate a cinematic style?
Depends on genre, if it lends itself to such a style. A screenplay for action/adventure (like the Avengers or wushu), a telenovella, a fantasy (Lord of the Rings). It's big on visuals and the plot always pushes forwards.
Sometimes it just doesn't work for the story. And it's obvious to the reader.
