#SmallStories #Series 2

A face appeared through the hole on the other side of the wall. Or, more accurately, a mouth with a finger pressed across puckered lips appeared and demanded silence.
“Ssshh!” The finger dropped down and the lips moved, slowly and deliberately. “Not a sound.”
Heavy footfalls hurried towards him.
He slowed his breathing and turned to face the doorway. Silent and motionless he waited, sword in one hand and a dagger in the other.
The sound of running stopped.

#SmallStories #Series 1

Heavy footfalls close behind, spurred him to greater speed.
Sharp left.
Across a small square.
Into a narrow alley.
His pursuers slowly lost ground.
Into an abandoned house, through empty rooms.
Out of one building and into another, and another.
Then… nowhere.
The escape route ended abruptly.
Eyes frantically searched for options, but other than a fist-sized hole in the wall to his right, there was no other way to get past that final barrier into friendly territory.

To whomsoever may be interested...

I will producing a threaded story using the #smallstories hashtag with #series and a number. (1-23)

The first "instalment" will be published shortly.

All rights remain with the original author (me) with credit being given to @JeanieBurrell for getting me to put words together for the first time in a long time.

#microfiction

Hi peeps/mastodonians/scribes and scribblers... Could someone please explain the microfiction hashtag and its uses.

Might want to share some recent scribbles... if anyone is interested that is.

Thanks in advance.

#ScribesAndMakers – 4th May. How many songs are there where you know all the lyrics by heart?

Same reply as @joyce

Far too many to count - some I wish I could forget too!

#ScribesAndMakers 02/05: When you finish a project, do you tend to feel that you have everything just the way you want it, or is it more like 'good enough'?

Perfection is a noble quest, likely to drive one to insanity, therefore "good enough" is close, but never actually perfect.

#ScribesAndMakers May 1: Are you starting any new projects this month?

Nothing planned, so, my schedule is entirely open! Scribbling, drawing, spreadsheets, web pages and widgets are all possibilities.

🤔 In case anyone might be interested, I have cobbled together a rather simple, HTML/CSS/Javascript "bookstyle" birthday/anniversary/whatever celebration/greeting card which I am happy to share... Others may have done it better, but you are welcome to try it if you so wish.

#WordWeavers May 2: How much longer do you think it’ll take you to finish your WIP?

"To infinity and beyond!"

"Hasta la eternidad y mas por alla!"

Unless you count the little tale I'm fiddling together in response to the "provocation" being so kindly provided by @JeanieBurrell, in which case it may be finished far sooner than I anticipated.

#WritersCoffeeClub 2: Have you ever written a character making one decision, only to later revise them choosing otherwise?

Did I make the decision, or did the character?

Thomas (Tommy) Andrew McNulty was focused on survival with no intentions of being other than totally independent.

Only...

He discovered a few things.
He needed people, people needed him, and he liked that, and them, and they liked him too.

It was a total contradiction to his original intentions.

#WordWeavers 28/4: Do you use flowers at all in your story?

I did! 😱 When a humanoid female was injured in an explosion... she was given flowers, but had no idea what they were for nor why they were given to her... 😜
