There's not enough fuck offs in the world

#ScribesAndMakers 18: Ever read out loud?

On rare occasions it has been known - though mostly to my partner who is in the role of "cardboard cut-out" - that thing we talk to just to give voice to our concerns.

Bless her, she's patient enough to do it when I need it.

#PennedPossibilities 990 — Have any of your characters ever been in a fight?

Other than when attached to "The Marauders" ( a military unit on the salvage vessel Resurrection)?
Yep!
Thomas Andrew McNulty (Tommy) had a lot of growing up to do and his mouth and attitude refused to make it easy for him.
On more than one occasion he ended up having his bell rung by his opponents - who were generally better able to dish out the shit he had to take whilst attempting to deliver that same shit to them.

#WritersCoffeeClub 16. Must writing always [be] in complete sentences? Unusual syntax?

Nope... Bcoz... bad habits, different dialects, terrible accents, etc. are all part of life's rich tapestry, innit?

Example: an alien speaking

An Obsidar, swathed in cloth, sits by his side. All but the eyes are hidden from view by the traditional robes of the Brotherhood.
“Not startled look. You look for I?” In broken English the Obsidar engages Marcus in conversation.

Blue skies and distemper,
a saturating storm
in the teacup
of God, or worse —

meaning Man,
always on the cusp
of a misnomer,

Sapiens, my arse,
knowing nothing
while breaking it all
the same,

Breaking it all;
all the same.

Ghosts don't glide, they walk.

See, there's one next to you right now.
Tip to toe,
grounded and ungraved,
disinterested.

Pacing, in temporal remembrance.
Waiting, in the dead weather,
for their feet to leave
the ground,

steeped in forever,
not unlike you.

Some establishments receive some "dubious" guests, however they know who to welcome!
(How's your Spanish?)

#ScribesAndMakers 10 What's a feature of Science Fiction that you find interesting?

The hope that humanity - the REAL human beings - persevere against all odds and survive, gaining wisdom and keeping a very wary eye on the integrity of their actions.

Oh, and the techy stuff's interesting too, but hard SCI-FI which requires the reader to have a PhD... meh.

Anything that encourages the imagining of a better life for everyone!
