Hello! Welcome to the running community! Loads of great running people on here!

Start slow and steady. Don’t expect to be able to smash it straight away. Pace and distance come with time.

Try the NHS Couch to 5K program. I’ve not done it myself, but I know a lot of people who have.

For something a bit different, there’s Zombies Run! which is an audiobook/gamification type thing which is a lot of fun, if you like that sort of thing.

Shoes are really important, but you don’t need to go dropping hundreds of pounds on them straight away.

Most importantly, listen to your body and don’t overdo it!

I feel good about this morning's half marathon.

I kept my pace pretty even throughout - although I tended to slow down a bit when I would take a gel and some water.

Was able to drop five minutes and establish a new PR.

I had enough still in the tank to really push the last mile... and also felt pretty good afterwards.

The training is paying off! I need to stick with the plan.

Long term goal: 1st marathon in October.

I felt good #running this morning. Generally had negative splits. Most of this run was on a track as I wanted to save my knees and shins for tomorrow's long run.

Half marathon is next week. 2:20 is my time to beat. That should be doable if I can keep my pace steady and don't blaze out early. Steady. Stick with the plan.

Today's last kilometer, at 5:31, has been my fastest kilometer so far this year... and it felt pretty good. :-)

My sister's excuse for missing parkrun this morning !
Edit:
1) Sister may owe Clarkson royalties.
2) Bird head may/may not be displayed like a hunting trophy on the front of the car.
3) Yes, one of the best excuses ever.

I rolled up my #running stats for the first three months of the year.

Glad to see a slow increase in my cadence (SPM). I have been trying to improve that.

Total kilometers of running is certainly increasing.

I have been following the Hal Higdon Marathon intermediate plan. So far, so good. I have been doing a better job this year in actually taking rest days when I am suppose to.

Half marathon coming up in about two weeks. Current HM PB is 2:21 (6:36 KM pace). I hope to do better than that.

Crazy how good it feels to just go running #running #runnersofmastodon
#Running this morning: started near The Pentagon, saw the cherry blossoms along the tidal basin, went by the following monuments: FDR, Korean War, reflecting pool, Washington Monument, Eisenhower, back by the Washington Monument, WWII, and then Vietnam until i headed over the bridge towards Arlington National Cemetery. Not my fastest run, but as many of what these memorials recognize are connected with my work on my PhD dissertation, I used the run as a motivational tool to get busy writing!

This morning's run let me go see the cherry blossom's in Washington D.C.! Does not get much better than that. I enjoy everyone's posts that include pictures... but I don't run with my phone... usually. As my hotel room key is now my phone, I had to take it on the morning run and decided to snap a few pictures along the route. I am hoping on tomorrow's long run to push up the Mall a bit further.

I've been following one of the Hal Higdon plans for marathon prep and observe a rest day on Fridays. Oddly, my legs feel much worse on rest days.

Long run is tomorrow, but I enjoyed this mornings run. Everything felt good. I did stretch a bit more responsibly prior to the run than usual. Obviously that is a practice I need to turn into a habit.

Short term goal: have a HM coming up in 28 days.

Long term: first marathon in October.

Overall goal: rigorous training without injury
