Trump will be represented by a democrat, go figure;

“ Democrats managed to flip a seat in the Florida state house in the district that is home to Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago.

Emily Gregory, a Democrat, defeated Republican Jon Maples, who had an endorsement from the US president. The Associated Press called the race on Tuesday evening.

Trump voted in the race via mail-in ballot, despite criticizing the practice as “mail-in cheating” during an event in Tennessee this week.”

Supreme Court Scrutinizes Mississippi Law Allowing Mail-In Ballots Postmarked by Election Day

The Supreme Court appears poised to overturn a Mississippi law allowing mail-in ballots to be counted as long as they are postmarked by Election Day. On Monday, the court’s right-wing majority appeared to reject arguments that mail-in ballots are consistent with federal election laws because voters make their final choices by Election Day. More than two dozen states have similar laws, meaning the Supreme Court’s ruling, expected by June or July, could have a big impact on November’s midterm elections.

This will make all mail-in ballot delvery, and vote by mail interesting. I assume the DOGE bros and Dejoy have a list of Amercans who routinely vote Democrat, or perhaps they'll just go by "black or hispanic names?"

#Ohio governor 'reluctantly' signs bill eliminating grace period for late #ballots

The number of #states that will accept late-arriving #MailInBallots during next year’s critical #midterm #elections continues to dwindle, as Ohio Gov Mike DeWine “reluctantly” signed new restrictions into law, citing the uncertainty of pending litigation to ban the counting of such ballots in his state.

#Trump has moved to eliminate the practice nationally.

Ohio's DeWine signs bill eliminating grace period for late ballots

Gov. Mike DeWine has signed legislation eliminating Ohio's four-day grace period for late-arriving mail-in ballots. The Republican said Friday that he reluctantly signed the bill to avoid chaos in next year's critical midterm elections. At issue is a pending U.S. Supreme Court case out of Mississippi that challenges the counting of such ballots as a violation of federal law. If a lower court ruling is upheld, DeWine said Ohio would wind up with different ballot rules for federal and state candidates. Democrats and voter advocates said the change will disenfranchise thousands of voters who cast absentee ballots through the mail.

#MaineQuestion1 is a good reason to vote in an "off-year" election (you know, when the sneaky types try and pass shit!).

#Mainers like #AbsenteeVoting. Question 1 would make that option harder.

The November referendum has been framed around requiring #VoterID, but it also includes a host of changes to absentee voting.

Rachel Ohm, August 24, 2025

Excerpt: "#MaineVoters have come to increasingly rely on absentee or #MailInBallots — a practice that is routinely targeted by #Republicans politicians as rife with potential fraud, even though evidence doesn’t support that.

"During last year’s presidential election, almost half of all votes cast were absentee. The latest citizen-initiated proposal would make that more difficult.
If passed, it would prohibit voters from requesting absentee ballots by phone, and would require older Mainers and those with disabilities to renew their eligibility each year. The proposal also would limit the number of #DropBoxes municipalities are allowed to have and prohibit them from including prepaid return postage."
