After more than a year of owning a 3D printer and barely using it I decided to finally learn FreeCAD.

I made an attachment wall mount for the vacuum cleaner I recently bought. It came with a wall mount, but that only has space for two attachments, while it came with five...

@freecad I recently built a smart mailbox sensor that is integrated into Home Assistant. #FreeCad was the obvious choice for designing the enclosure. (See pictures in follow-up posts...)

On this #freecadfriday, I finally got around to designing a paper towel roll holder for the stand I use in front of my bike that’s attached to the stationary trainer. For probably a year, I’ve wanted this so that I could blow my nose or mop up sweat off the bike, etc…

I took inspiration from a few other designs I saw around the internet. The hardest part was getting the thickness of the curved beam spring to provide the right amount of tension against the roll. It took me 3 iterations to get it just right. I effectively decreased the stiffness by 50% with each iteration, but I had no idea what would “feel” right to begin with.

A little #3dprinting, a little hardware, and a piece of PVC pipe I had around to make the spindle. We’re in business.

@FreeCAD last week I started with a simple case mod for the Banana Pi R2.

Sadly, it turned out that the device has a very poor thermal design. Even with a passive heatsink and CPU governor set to ondemand instead of performance, it builds up heat until it performs an emergency shutdown.

So now, one week later, I end up with a more extensive case mod with active cooling:

@FreeCAD I made something simple today: custom sides for the Banana Pi R2 case.

More antennas more good, right?

Well gosh, it's #FreeCADFriday once again! What are you working on with #FreeCAD? #CAD #CAM #MadeWithFreeCAD
Hey! It's #FreeCADFriday! What are you working on in #FreeCAD? Hope everyone has had a good week. #CAD #MadeWithFreeCAD

Hey @FreeCAD!

I made a case for my phone. It has a compartment for a stash of emergency money or a couple of cards the size of a credit card.

The best feature for me, though, is the high-quality TPU material I used for printing, which is flexible, skin-friendly, and just feels nice in the hand!
