A ★★★ review of Once Upon a Time in America (1984)

Eine Welt, in der andere Männer entweder Familie oder Feinde sind. Und Frauen sind Huren oder Heilige - aber auch nicht mehr als Besitz, den man hat, haben will oder nicht mehr braucht. Dieser Film ist optisch und schauspielerisch toll. Aber er bräuchte auch eine deutliche Trigger-Warnung, weil es ein paar echt schlimme Szenen gibt. Keiner der Charaktere ist sympathisch. Und am Ende dieses fast vier stündigen Kloppers bleibt ein wenig das Gefühl, das schlechte Menschen einfach zu lange leben dürfen.

This movie is ok. Its fun but maybe a little long for its simplistic plot and thin characters. Some decent prison break tropes and the super prison is interesting but its very forgettable. I couldn't name a single character. The 4K bluray is acceptable but nothing earth shattering.

The trend of prequel Texas Chainsaw Massacre films being decent continues. This is a prequel to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre (and the 2013 film Texas Chainsaw). I like the idea of not actually knowing 100% which kid is a young Leatherface until the last 30 minutes with a reveal and transformation. It does a better job of building sympathy for the character without compromising the original films spirit (unlike the 2013 film). Plenty of gore and it looks good. The 4k Blu-ray is very crisp (although its a German exclusive). The movie is 90 minutes long and never feels
