I want to know what's going on in the new American concentration camps. The media seems to be completely ignoring it. It seems to me that an enterprising reporter might do what Nellie Bly did, and get themselves committed to one of those camps in order to shed some light on the situation.

Nellie Bly got herself committed to an insane asylum for 10 days, and revealed many of the horrors of the institutions of the time.

But I suspect that if someone tried to do that now, they'd never be heard from again.

By the way, Google is doing everything they can to steal every possible link. I had to make an extra effort to find the project Gutenberg link for the book above, because Google defaulted to one of their own instead.

They are literally taking over the entire internet. It's obscene.

Yesterday (Friday) Brattleboro Police yellow tape ran all along the Elm Street entryways to the homeless camp by the Whetstone Stream. I saw no police activity or human activity of any sort. A news search just now turned up nothing about it.

Brattleboro news has been hard to come by lately. Social media helps but I saw nothing about this incident at Facebook either.

#AtlantaGeorgia rethinks clearing #HomelessCamps after a man is crushed inside his tent

ATLANTA (AP) — "Atlanta leaders are reconsidering how they dismantle homeless camps after a man was crushed inside a tent as a bulldozer destroyed makeshift homes in preparation for Martin Luther King Jr. holiday events.

"Cornelius Taylor was living in the camp a few blocks from Ebenezer Baptist Church, the King family’s congregation, where dignitaries gather for each year’s commemorative service. A march was held from downtown to the church that same weekend.

"Now, Taylor’s family is planning a Monday funeral at the same historic church, and then a horse-drawn carriage will carry his coffin to City Hall so that people there 'can see who they killed,' said his sister, Darlene Chaney.

"The U.S. Supreme Court [#SCOTUS] ruled last year that cities across the country can enforce bans on homeless camping. But clearing the camps — as #NewOrleans did ahead of Taylor Swift’s concerts there — remains controversial."

Atlanta rethinks clearing homeless camps after a man is crushed inside his tent

Atlanta leaders are reconsidering how they dismantle homeless camps. That comes after a man in a tent was killed as a city crew's bulldozer destroyed the encampment. A city spokeswoman says the tents were being swept from an area several blocks away from the Ebenezer Baptist Church in preparation for Martin Luther King Jr. holiday events. A lawyer for Cornelius Taylor's family says the heavy equipment crushed his organs. Taylor's family hopes his death can lead to positive changes as cities struggle with growing homeless populations. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens says his death shows the need to reexamine city policies. A Monday funeral is planned.

What happened when a Canadian city stopped evicting homeless camps

Faced with a housing and homelessness crisis, Halifax has set aside city sites for people to live in tents. Not everyone is behind the plan.

Meanwhile... back in #Stumptown... (Portland, OR)

The Mayor and City are now going to start cleaning up homeless camps on the sidewalks, due to FEDERAL lawsuit that it violates ADA compliance by blacking access for those with disabilities. Others are planning to sue in Federal court for EPA violations for the camps in the Springwater Trail Coridoor and other parks/nature areas.
