According to a BPD Facebook post, a 17 year old (evidently girl) was apprehended in connection with two shootings on Chestnut Street. The post was zipped off screen right away so I wasn't able to see the post's date and time.

A woman was able to escape a submerged car with her 2-year-old son and swim to safety after crashing into a Vermont river on Monday. The Hartford, Vt. fire department said it responded to the area of Quechee Main Street and the Mill Run Condominiums for a report of a car in the Ottauquechee River at about 12:45 p.m. "The driver was hanging onto the vehicle as it floated downstream," the department said. Road and walkway surface technology in the United States leaves much to be desired. Chances are many of the Western Avenue potholes being filled this year were filled last year. A crater on the sidewalk on the Elm Street bridge was filled and now it isn't. These patches are hit or miss at best for endurance. At least, though, these Town employees are out there doing what they can. As for sidewalks, the people today who rebuild our sidewalks are doing a much better job than has been done in the past. We've got that going for us. A few of the curb cuts have been done differently - and better - such that the downward slant of driveways ends at the inner edge of the sidewalk, leaving the sidewalk, itself, level side-to-side. I hope whoever came up with this stroke of genius gets credit for making life better for Brattleboro pedestrians.
