Not too bad this weekend for a pretty poor 10 meter band. 15 contacts for "Support Your Parks Weekend". I'll take it! Also spent some time finishing up a few bits of my shack this weekend and put up a new grid square map. I'll put up some updated pics at some point!

Woo! The MyAntennas 7510-1K EFHW antenna got here! I'm so excited, and am just waiting for some coax to get here so I can mount and get it all set up! It feels so high quality, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how it performs. I'll finally be able to get on something other than 10m, 12m or 6m! YAY!
So, I've done it. I ordered an EFHW antenna from myantennas.com, which covers 75m-10m! I still have to pick up a few other things to make it all connect in to my shack, but I will finally be able to get on other bands soon! Now to just hope for a good enough day to get on the roof and hook up coax and lightning blocks and get everything all mounted. I'm so excited!
It seems the 10 meter band is getting better! I got 26 SSB contacts, mostly to POTA parks, but a few random contacts too! I'm so excited with the band opening up again for the season!
I even got a contact in the Cayman Islands!
I've got my shack all insulated and set up for winter too, so I won't freeze to death trying to make contacts. All in all, it's been a great weekend!

ARGH! Contest weekends always make it so difficult to get POTA and casual contacts. I only got 4 SSB POTA contacts, and all the rest are digital exchanges. Hopefully next weekend should be much easier to fill in my logbook more!
At least I used the idle time to finish insulating the radio room, so I'll be ready for winter!

Whee, that was a day of work for sure. I managed to get the inside of my shack all done up to be able to play radio now in the fall and winter. Set up a nice desk with my gear, got things all hooked up, and even a light on the ceiling!
Didn't really end up playing radio much today, 'cause I decided to go ahead and work on my shack a bit! It's coming together really nice, and I'll have some update pictures of it tomorrow! Really looking forward to getting back on the air tomorrow afternoon.
Well, I think the verdict is in on my power supply mods. I've been watching it, making sure all is good, and it's been ice cold, near ambient the whole time. So I think it's a win! Much quieter, much cooler. I've been running FT8 on it all day and things have gone perfectly smoothly, so I'm very happy with how it turned out!
Just did a Noctua fan mod to my radio power supply. I think it came out really well! Also, the fan that was in it from the factory was venting downwards, heating the underside of the power supply when it was running, so I flipped it to properly draw from underneath and vent out the top. Should be quite the improvement in sound and cooling!
