Also whilst I do like #CB #Radios and would've loved to get an #SSB unit, this one certainly has not #CEPT compliance stamp or any #SpectrumCompliance #certification and I'd certainly not "Fuck Around and Find Out" with those.

- Espechally since it does have way more juice than @BNetzA would approve of!

Seriously, don't do a #SpectrumViolation.
- The mere fact that it's legal to buy doesn't mean it's legal to use! [aka. Re-Export devices...]

At last summer's Estonian Ham Fest, someone joked that they would use an AI-generated female voice to call CQ in future contests, as this certainly would attract more attention.

I haven't spent much time on HF since then, but I was stunned today when I heard OE1GAQ calling CQ on 20 m with a female robot voice. It even says: 'I am an artificial intelligence station, over,' and it got lots of responses.

Fellow hams, this is devastating! As if SSB wasn't already dying and amateurs weren't already moving on to FT8. Any ideas about how to react to this? Do we have to specify a call in analogy to 'CQ DX' calling only for humans? It's frustrating to see this AI stupidity spreading everywhere, but seeing it taking hold even in SSB makes me sick.

Short #POTA activation today. #SSB was full of contest, so this time #digi only.
35 QSO in the end.

Thanks hunters!

Another super silly idea. This time #SSB speech processing.

What if we break down speech into several tones and harmonics using a polyphase channelizer (#PFB), subsequently select the maximum tone of each channel.

Then reconstruct the speech by only restransmitting the fundament of each channel?

Would it even be audible, how many channels would be needed. Do we need to select multiple tones per channels and would the resulting speech be pleasant to hear?

This weekend was Museum Ships on the Air! I got my 15 ships to send in my logs for a certificate, so I'll be doing that soon! Band conditions weren't the best, but that made the ship even more rewarding to get. A few POTA sprinkled in there with them, too.

I have this incredibly silly idea to build my own transceiver around a TX/RX #SDR and the entire software stack runs in a @gnuradio flowchart.

Just for the fun of it, you know.

Here is my mock up #SSB transmit part.
