I was wondering...
Nowadays, much of IT and GameDev in specific work using some #agile methodology like scrum. I find that pretty contrary to making a big #GameDesignDocument. A GDD - I hear and read - should include stuff like this particular gun's firing rate, how quickly this particular food raises health and that kind of minutia. How does this relate to the agile thing of small steps, rapid iteration and such?

Just finished the #GameDesignDocument for a game I want to create on #Godot 😍.

It wasn't easy, It's the first time I do one of these. I must say, doing it helped me a lot, focusing the scope of the game on a smaller scale.

I'm really hoping this project works 😅. Most of my projects are over-hyped by me and never finished, sadly.

That's all I want to say for now. It's a good start and next I will create the repository for the project and begin working on the prototype ☺️.

GAME DESIGN DOCUMENTS SHOULDNT BE PAINFUL!!!

I've heard a lot of disagreements about what format, information, or people should be involved in writing a GDD. Since I started writing them again I felt like I should say my piece on this conversation.

There doesn't need to be a formal layout!!!

All game design teams have different strengths, weaknesses, capabilities, and priorities. Internal GDDs should be written to serve the developers instead of following traditional document layouts.

All games are unique, so your GDD should reflect that.

Although a bare minimum should also be conveyed, if you want a handy checklist and tips, I use this pdf as a pseudo-checklist.

Current stats:
Split in two:
1 part is utterly frustrated because my #gamedev laptop STILL needs 20 more hours to copy all the project files to my external server (but luckily it's only THAT big folder. The rest has already been copied)
1 part relieved, cause my #amwritingfantasy laptop is now updated and I can at least do some writing.

I will have to do writing for my #GameDesignDocument in Google Docs, though, cause this laptop only has Scrivener 1, instead Scrivener 3.... 🤷‍♀️
