Friends,

The Revolution Will Not Be Televised: The Theory and Practice of Resistance, Episode 3: Recruitment to High-Risk Activism https://therevolutionwillnotbetelevised.net/#episode3 is now live on the website, Peertube, and YT.

We're finding a huge number of echos in the vodcast of what is happening in the real world today, and vice-versa ... it's kind of amazing! And, TBH, scary/depressing.

#JimCrow was enforced in my lifetime. The #FreedomSummer murders happened in my lifetime.
#JFK, #MalcolmX, #MLK, #RFK, the #BlackPanthers, all assassinated in my lifetime.
The entire #Holocaust happened during my Mom's lifetime.
#MathewShephard was murdered for being #Gay less than 30 years ago.
These fuckers are complaining about fucking "#Woke" about fucking "#ShadowBans?
Some fucking motherfuckers need to be throat-punched.
The future happens a lot faster than you think.

We all need to know this American History. [Gifted w. my subscription to The Washington Post]: In 1964, the Klan killed three young activists and shocked the nation

A Mississippi town still grapples with that violent civil rights history

Why Freedom Summer’s Mississippi murders of 3 young activists matter

During the 1964 effort to register Black Mississippians to vote, the Klan killed three civil rights activists. The atrocity still reveberates.

The Washington Post

I was 21 on 6/21/1964 when three young men were murdered for registering people to vote. That November, I would cast my first vote ever: for Lyndon Johnson.

When I joined hands with others and sang, "We Shall Overcome...Someday," I really thought it would be during my lifetime.

Locals Defy DeSantis Pride Light Ban, Light Bridge Up With Flashlights In Jacksonville

The Main Street Bridge in Jacksonville was lit up in rainbow colors, despite DeSantis declaring "Freedom Summer," which would replace all Pride lights with red, white, and blue.

"Gov. Ron DeSantis bravely saves Floridians from exposure to nonpatriotic bridges" is sarcastic.

Unfortunately, #FreedomSummer seems to be a serious campaign in DeSantis's State of #Florida.

So as a friendly reminder to readers who don't live in the d--- state: there are ongoing travel advisories by Equality Florida, NAACP, Florida NOW, and other organizations declaring Florida unsafe for LGBTQIA, Black, and/or female visitors in addition to (im)migrant workers.

Gov. Ron DeSantis bravely saves Floridians from exposure to nonpatriotic bridges

I applaud Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for banning all lights that aren’t red, white and blue from bridges across the state. That's true freedom!
