#SCOTUS upholds #trans #athlete bans

The ruling is another setback for #transgender people.

The court’s conservative majority, which has repeatedly ruled against transgender Americans in the past year, ruled that #state bans in #Idaho & #WestVirginia don’t violate the #Constitution or the federal #law known as #TitleIX, which prohibits #sex #discrimination in education.

Bahraini authorities have arrested several prominent Shia religious figures and reciters following their participation in a mourning procession in the village of Sar, in what supporters and local sources describe as part of an ongoing campaign targeting the country’s Shia community.

Among those reportedly arrested are Sayed Saleh Taqi, head of the Sar mourning hall, his deputy Sayed Hussein Mohammed, Shia reciters Mohammed Saeed and Mohammed Fadhel, who participated in the mourning procession in the Sar area, as well as Sayed Hassan Majid, head of the Husseini Commission for the people of Aali.

According to the statement, the arrests are being characterized as part of a broader campaign against the Shia community in Bahrain, particularly in connection with Ashura mourning ceremonies and religious activities.
