Sir Douglas Quintet, Live From Austin TX, 2006 on New West

Doug Sahm’s Sir Douglas Quintet recorded in 1981 but released in 2006 (on CD/DVD) / 2018 (vinyl) – live on Austin City Limits. (In 1981 that means the old Studio 6A at UT Austin, not the new Moody Theater).

This was part of a reunion tour after the quintet split up in the early 70s when Sahm put out his solo album.

My copy via a private sale is the 2018 three-sided LP version with one side etched, pressed by MPO.

An etched bronze bracelet. The pattern is from a drawing of leaves. The ridge formed from folding and unfolding the 1 mm sheet. I rolled over parts of the edges, thickening the single edges with what is called upsetting. A photograph shows the back of the bracelet part way through the process. The rawhide mallet is used to shape the bronze without marring the surface.
