Something that always makes me feel depressed and disparaged on #fediverse is the amount of times I've seen highly visible accounts act like #alttext enforcers, even making it their policy to not boost a post that lacks it. Heck I think I even recall someone mentioning a fediverse starter pack which blacklists people who don't use alt text.

There are people who have legitimate difficulty in articulating what they see in an image into words, due to English being a second language or disability. For some people, the point is to communicate with images because they can't express what they have to say in words. There are also people with physical disabilities which can make typing harder or tiring.

By excluding us you are practicing #ableism, disparaging and making the fediverse hostile and unwelcoming to people who already have difficulties in our participation and you are silencing our voices just because there are a few people who can't hear our image posts.

And the worst part is you all say it's to accommodate people with disabilities.

I bought my dream slr this year after much saving,,,l thought my pro slr days were over when I became ill. I couldn’t hold my heavy Nikon D200. But this year I got a specialist strap so I could use and hold my new Nikon D850. I had the older frame lenses from my other older Nikons,
I still love my smaller cameras though, my Nikon D500 and Sony A7, all great. And I use my phone for my videos. Whatever your capabilities it’s all valid. #photography #disablity

Is there a coop or collective of disabled people in tech where you can go to hire accessibility experts? I don't want to continue to release software unless I know its accessible, but I can't know that unless I have my software audited by disabled tech experts that know the pitfalls of these things. I don't need free labour either. I am happy to pay for this service.

Yesterday I learnt about my PIP being taken away, this puts me down an extra £400+ from what I was already struggling, It is to the point that I have a few options.

Option #1: Find a way to make that money back and fight for my PIP back by appealing, most likely being picked and prodded by doctors.

Option #2: Make up that 400 and not appeal meaning I will have to keep generating that 400 each month to cover my basic costs of food and stuff.

Option #3: Do nothing about it and suffer.

At this point all I can say is that I'm not sure what to do and I hate the UK Government for doing these changes, this is not a needed thing on top of all my pain.
