🇭🇰🚇 MTR Corporation has announced that fares in Hong Kong for 2026/27 will remain unchanged, marking a second consecutive freeze under its Fare Adjustment Mechanism (FAM). Although the formula indicated a +2.85% increase based on wage and inflation data, the “Affordability Cap” — linked to stagnant median household income — prevents any rise this year. The deferred increase will be phased in over the following two years. #MTR said it will continue concessions and promotions, including discounts for elderly passengers, students and people with #disabilities, alongside schemes such as the Monthly Pass and Early Bird Discount. Fare concessions exceeded HK$3.2 billion last year, benefiting over 600 million trips. The operator said it aims to balance affordability with sustainable operations and long-term development.
