(Sir Charles Antony Richard Hoare)
=> null pointer exception.

I am saddened to learn that Tony Hoare, the #Computing pioneer who invented what is now called Hoare Logic, the quicksort algorithm and a bunch of other things including the *null reference*, which he famously called his “billion dollar mistake”, died last month on 5 March 2026 aged 92.

Everyone: WAAAA AIS
>Girl nerd in her home: Hmm, the latency are too slow (in nanoseconds), can I make it faster?
>Look up RAM Architecture

Re: LB:
What appears as critique – yearning for smaller, weirder, more human spaces – often functions as brand repair. Netstalgia becomes a strategy: it restores trust without redistributing power, softens anger without changing infrastructures and reframes structural problems as matters of vibe, design or community feeling.
"Am I working on change, or am I working on brand repair?" is an important question to ask oneself regularly, it seems to me. It's especially relevant for the tech sector, open source, and computer science.

In Math, Rigor Is Vital. But Are Digitized Proofs Taking It Too Far?

The quest to make mathematics rigorous has a long and spotty history — one mathematicians can learn from as they push to formalize everything in the computer program Lean.
