Looks like I'm not following enough people from the UK. Why else would it take me until now to find out about Colin the Caterpillar?!
Also, is it accurate that people chant "eat the face!" at the birthday child when it's used as a birthday cake? 😅

Well that was an exciting night! We had celebratory Colin the Caterpillar cake for breakfast. Delighted especially for the Greens getting 4 seats. Just sad/frustrated that our local MP clung on by 167 votes
Hello sweeties :)
So disappointed in celebrities today
My friends bought me a cake for my birthday, and somehow this made me try to work out the #French #translation for #ColinTheCaterpillar. (I failed, so I looked it up.)
Readers (and in particular my fellow #etymology fanatics): You are not going to believe what I found out.
ENG: Caterpillar - from the #Latin for 'shaggy cat'
FRA: Chenille - from the Latin for 'little dog'
And oui, the French for 'caterpillar' is where we get the haberdashery term 'chenille' from.
I bloody love #words, me.
