The biggest improvements we can make to #PublicEducation:

#Civics & #ParliamentaryProcedure (how government works, how to become part of it, #RobertsRulesOfOrder)

#FreshFood For All For Free (involve students in preparation + service)

#HomeEconomics & #IndustrialArts (domestic production + home maintenance)

#Accounting & #Bookkeeping (business + personal finance)

#Health, #Fitness, & #Wellness (physical + mental, not competition & abstinence)

This is great news. City Council is a part-time (or more) job, and if it doesn't pay, then only the retired, wealthy, or spouses of the wealthy, can afford to do it.

That shapes who is making decisions for us. Want younger politicians and better representation? We need to pay local electeds more.

Novato City Council more than triples its pay

The new rate comes to $18,624 a year, an amount made possible by a state law passed in 2023. The council’s pay had been the same since 1988.

Civics Lessons

The world does not have enough understanding of civics: how government relates the people. This is a partial reason for why we are where we are.

PBS has a way of teaching civics with their "Civic Bowl." But is it able to reach the right people?
