Tonight was the #capitalbike #holidaylightsride.

The battery in my helmet camera seems to have died so I only have pictures from my phone. There was a little bit of light drizzle but not enough to stop the ride.

Drivers fairly good except for one person who parked in the bike lane forcing all of out out into traffic on Richmond Road (They had their hazard lights on so it was fine 🙄)

Kudos to Canadian bike advocates sharing helpful resources, in particular: Thanks to BC Bike Coalition https://bccycling.ca/bike-valet-explain and their bike valet tool kit https://bccycling.ca/bike-valet-toolkit, we found Capital Bike https://capitalbike.ca/the-locker-toolkit/ and their bike event parking / bike valet templates, etc.

Monterey County is among the many regions that have had bike valet parking https://bikemonterey.org/tips-for-tourists/valet-parking-service-for-cyclists at some events, but not nearly enough. (It isn’t feasible that the most frequent valet provider for many years simply can’t do it all.) We’d love to see more people providing bike valet parking here—and chances are many of you have the same need in your region.

Save yourself some time; check out those resources from generous bike advocates in Canada!

One of my favourite events of the season: the #CapitalBike Holiday Lights Ride! The weather cooperated (just a little drizzle at the start), it was a great route with amazingly decorated houses, I got to bring my niece & nephew again & this time their mum, my friend, was able to attend for the first time, plus I saw so many other friends there… a heart filling evening. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

@BicycleDutch our local cycling organization, #CapitalBike, does a holiday lights ride every year. People decorate their bikes with lights and other festive decor and then there is a family friendly paced ride around the best decorated neighbourhoods. It’s coming up on December 17th. Here’s a picture of me from last year. I made the helmet cover for this event.
