Think: An average parking space for a motor vehicle is 9 feet by 18 feet, or 162 square feet—not to mention 13.5-14 feet high road clearance by US DOT standards. Three of those spaces take up 486 square feet of floor area, the size of an urban apartment that could instead house people. You can easily fit a 1bd/1.5ba apartment in that space that could house two intimate adults.
