Yes, why not #BanCars from Manhattan? No better time than now!

Children & Streets | Streets Ahead

Solving decades of inaction on children's access to streets

I don't remember if I mentioned this, but one thing that @citynerd doesn't take into account here is that, the more travel lanes you add to a road, the less effective capacity you are actually adding, because of the amount of time needed to traverse the lanes to get on and off the road or make turns.

So, even if you could build a 30-lane wide Lexington Avenue, it might take you 30 blocks to get from Lane 30 to Lane 1 to make a turn. #urbanism #JustOneMoreLane #BanCars

Here's the real conspiracy: Too many people are forced into car-dependent lives, with more health harms, more crashes, more noise, more air pollution, more social isolation โ€” and less space for everything good our streets should be giving us. buff.ly/EkbQBlk https://usa.streetsblog.org/2026/04/27/urban-truth-collective-the-one-hour-city-conspiracy

Tristan Cork of Bristol 'Live' take the city's bureaucrats to task for the enduring crap transport problems. "Those in charge embrace the e-bike and e-scooter hire scheme, but havenโ€™t got the cajones to create proper parking spaces for them. You could fit 10 e-scooters in their own segregated little zone, just by painting a few markers on an on-street parking space taken up by one car, but that hasnโ€™t happened, because those in charge appear too frightened to do anything to challenge people parking their cars." https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/news-opinion/paradoxes-cowardice-damning-indictment-bristols-10929957
