Although i posted this Magical Circle some years ago, the book has instructions for colouring it, so here is a #colour version, made in #GIMP . Note: the spell-caster stands in the middle, so it is for protection.

NOTE: the book i have used what was probably an 18th century manuscript in the #britishLibrary, this is NOT a “real” ancient Hebrew artifact!

Solar Panels at the British Library

Image courtesy of the British Library

The British Library has installed solar panels on its roof, which went live last year.

The panels are a mixture of solar hot water, and some solar electricity. The installation was especially tricky because the Library building is Grade 1 listed (the highest level), and the new solar panels weren’t allowed to be seen from the street.

In the past 12 months, they have generated 186 MWh of heat, and 14.8 MWh of electrical energy.

The British Library needs a lot of heat to generate steam which allows them to closely control the humidity levels inside, which is required to help preserve the historical documents that they store.

The British Library is aiming to be Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050.

@Vecna great book. Enjoy.
@Vecna Excellent book, just finished it.
@flyscifiguy As always, Adrian writes a good alien.
@Vecna here you have one for re-use: “Stanisław Lem” 🙂
@mawhrin Aha, thanks. I had just sorted one out with the character map on my desktop - my mobile didn't seem to want to do other letters...
@Vecna What did you think? I'm of the opinion that Weir caught lightning in a bottle with The Martian and he's been downhill since.
@dbsalk I haven't read the Martian, so I can't really compare. I thought this was fine? Not the most enjoyable sci-fi I've read this year, but entertaining enough.
