Solar Panels at the British Library

The British Library has installed solar panels on its roof, which went live last year.

The panels are a mixture of solar hot water, and some solar electricity. The installation was especially tricky because the Library building is Grade 1 listed (the highest level), and the new solar panels weren’t allowed to be seen from the street.

In the past 12 months, they have generated 186 MWh of heat, and 14.8 MWh of electrical energy.

The British Library needs a lot of heat to generate steam which allows them to closely control the humidity levels inside, which is required to help preserve the historical documents that they store.

The British Library is aiming to be Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050.

I wouldn't want to live on a boat, but I kinda get the beauty of it. These are snapped at Coal Drops Yard, London, a spot that has really sprung back to life the past few years, albeit not quite the same walk of life as its previous one. It's splendid how those old structures can be repurposed, and so keep telling their story, instead of just being razed and replaced, along with a slice of history.

Ich habe gerade VIEL zu lange in Gimp zwei Bilder vom #GranarySquare in London (#KingsCross) zusammengefrickelt. Schön ist es nicht geworden, aber vielleicht erfrischt der Anblick trotzdem. // I just spend WAY too much time, trying to stitch together two photos of Granary Square in #London (King's Cross). The result is not great, but maybe you feel refreshed after seeing people frolicking in the #fountains

#Interrail day 6/7: from #Nottingham with #Northern to #Sheffield, with #CrossCountry to #Edinburgh, with #ScotRail to #Aberdeen, and then with #LNER to #London #KingsCross.
Especially the leg in #Scotland is absolutely breathtaking, and the first class service of LNER is comparable to business class flights (I didn’t even have a reservation) 😳

I think this will be my #1 tour for a long time ♥️

Walking towards #KingsCross at #night, I nod to the #goddess. Then I pass the #graveyard /city park, its gate left open at nearly midnight.

I mean… who wouldn't go in and take a look?
(Also: easy guide on how to build a Wile E. Coyote style trap for me 🤣)

Goddess is by #DavidSpeed I think.
