I wrote on my personal blog about my #antifatness as someone who used to be thin. I'd be honored if you read it. https://serenebabe.net/becoming-fat-revealed-my-anti-fatness/
Becoming fat revealed my anti-fatness – serenebabe.net

"I find fat people so attractive, they can cook me a great dinner, crush me with their thighs, and cuddle after"
Ok, I see where you're coming from, but are the fat people you're attracted to interested in doing any of those things? Are you still attracted to them if they aren't?

Much like cis people and transness or straight people and gayness, thin people often lack the knowledge, experience, understanding, tact, or sensitivity to lead or engage with discussions around weight and fatness w/ nuance, accuracy, and care. Taking a step back to listen and consider that you don't know what you don't know and appreciate with an open mind and heart when people larger than you take the time to share their perspectives and experiences can do wonders!

Reminder that fatphobia/fatmisia/antifatness/fat hate is deeply rooted in whiteness, antiBlackess, ableism, healthism, queerphobia, and classism, among other things. You can't get a full picture of antifatness without an understanding of these things and you can't get a full picture of any of these things without an understanding of antifatness. They all construct, support, and perpetuate each other.

I used to think it was important to fight "obesity" -- which made me part of the problem. In this blog post I try to explain what changed my mind and to reflect on how we can begin to fight for fat liberation.

Vasco Brazão - Anti-fat bias, not ‘obesity’, is a problem worth fighting

According to antifatness, the goal of every fat person at all times must be to reduce and launder their fatness as much as possible for the consumption of thin people. Most if not all fat people in antifat cultures are implicitly if not explicitly aware of this. It effects how fat people think, feel, dress, move, speak, breathe, and how, when, where, why, and if they eat.

My parents said all the quiet parts out loud when they were teaching me how fat people ought to dress in public. They'd point out strangers to me as examples. Never wear anything tight enough to show the imprints of a belly button or fat rolls, always wear clothing that creates the impression of a smaller more acceptable body, never wear clothing with food graphics or patterns, and maybe most important of all, always keep your belly hidden.

I can't help but think abt how the 00s fashion revival is gonna effect fat kids and teens. I hated living thru the low rise pants with slightly cropped top era so fucking much as an even slightly chubby kid. Hopefully this time around, there's less severe fatphobia owning the zeitgeist but I know that despite how far we've come, it's not remotely far enough.

Honestly, fat bodies entirely are seen and treated as obscene in ways that thin bodies just simply aren't.
