Y'all who keep lecturing protesters to "not give them an excuse" need to pause for a minute. Imagine yourself telling a DV victim, "Be sure not to mouth off or make any mistakes so he won't hit you. Don't give him an excuse! It's what he wants!" That's what you fools sound like.

I love the bombastic hymns of Easter Sunday, “Christ the Lord is Risen Today!,” and all the rest. But I have also long treasured what is for me, and for many other Easter celebrants, I believe: the post-Easter mellow. So I heartily welcomed the recent essay by Isaac S. Villegas, “Resurrection, Then Breakfast.” (Christian Century, May 2025, pp. 32f.)
