This is the closest you're ever going to get to a relationship, so what's it going to be, incel?

an old song, Close Your Eyes, from a Canadian Band, Edward Bear. It’s always been one of my heartbreak songs, if I wake up with it on the brain, that’s one of the hard days, and this song and some other adult, parents’ songs always got me, even as a kid myself. Going to tag it because I see now that was a hyper empathy thing. 😇

when I name a thing and you call me a hater for it that’s you naming me to hate me because that’s your world where everyone is a hater, and that’s true of everyone and everyone can be accused of it and be guilty - your world, the majority type’s worldview and world.
.
Somehow hating everyone with an opinion like that doesn’t count, if you hate all of humanity you are somehow not a hater (EDIT TO ADD: as long as We are All the Same)!
.
But describe anything less than everyone including yourself and you’re the hater.
.
That’s all the majority type’s psychology. As per another thread on here, my sort can name things for informational purposes, we don’t name them to place them in the outgroup, identification and hate are separate matters for the non-Allistic.
.
Naming them in particular draws the accusation of hate because they are less separate things for the Allistics and so the accusation is automatic for them, if there is a name there is hate.
.
I suppose this is why they only like “normal,” and nothing specific, like Allistic, or heterosexual, or cis, for them a name is a threat, that’s what names are for. 💜

I’ve been having this weird experience lately of alternating quickly between feeling overwhelmed by all the things that I want to do and the plans that I have, and like I’ve got things handled and my plans are good and I can deal with all the stuff. 1/2

Developing a better life is worth it

Someone offered to "cure" me.

"You just have imposter syndrome. I know. Because I do too! I have this book you could read…"

I tried to be gentle. "My friend, I don't have a syndrome of any kind. I'm just telling the truth. No need for diagnosis."

It went rapidly downhill from there.

"When 'Kind' Words… Hurt: An Autistic Elder on Microaggressions." Excerpts.

Here's what "kind" words actually cost me.

But like a persistent smell neurodivergent-dot-me can never ignore… that feeling lingered.

Building as I replay the conversation over and over.
Then it takes days to recover.
Before I can work on my projects again.
[…]

All you really gotta do to cause pain? Simply speak in the grammar of help… then act out the logic of condescension.

That's it.
[…]

I call it soft-core discrimination. Trying to look like… kindness.
[…]

You never feel the cruelest knife
Poison-tipped with a pat on the head
A smugly… gentle… smile
Words so softly, warmly… said.

He only said…
"You're flourishing.
Even with autism.
Good on you."

The noise-cancelling headphones are not antisocial.

They're the most efficient available tool for reducing sensory gating burden and masking demand simultaneously — freeing cognitive capacity that can actually reach the work.

The open office isn't just uncomfortable for AuDHD brains. It's structurally inaccessible.

You work the whole day doing the job and performing the job at the same time.

By the time you go home, you've done double the work, and that's exhausting.

The government assistance programs are there for when you need help. When you can't do it on your own. When you don't have someone else to do it for you.

It's okay to use them. There's no shame in that. That's what they're for.
