Someone offered to "cure" me.
"You just have imposter syndrome. I know. Because I do too! I have this book you could read…"
I tried to be gentle. "My friend, I don't have a syndrome of any kind. I'm just telling the truth. No need for diagnosis."
It went rapidly downhill from there.

The noise-cancelling headphones are not antisocial.
They're the most efficient available tool for reducing sensory gating burden and masking demand simultaneously — freeing cognitive capacity that can actually reach the work.
The open office isn't just uncomfortable for AuDHD brains. It's structurally inaccessible.
You work the whole day doing the job and performing the job at the same time.
By the time you go home, you've done double the work, and that's exhausting.

The government assistance programs are there for when you need help. When you can't do it on your own. When you don't have someone else to do it for you.
It's okay to use them. There's no shame in that. That's what they're for.
