While waiting for the remaining electrical components to arrive, I'm cleaning up everything that's staying on the build. This bridge is the original one — it came with the guitar parts I bought back in 1994. I decided against replacing it and went with keeping the vintage aesthetic instead.
The process so far: rough sandpaper first, then fine grit, then steel wool. It's now soaking in white vinegar for a day or two, after which I'll go over it again with steel wool.
One thing I'm still figuring out: I thought about finishing it with spray varnish, but that would insulate the bridge from the ground wire — which is a problem. Still thinking of a DIY-friendly way to protect it from oxidation without killing the electrical connection.
