I fear the current #systemd ... er ... issue is going to have an unfortunate cascade effect on my long-term desktop usage comfort zone. I've been using #ArchLinux (btw) since 2010ish, and #Gnome since 2000, and it could be that the time is approaching where I'm going to have to start investigating alternatives. Urgh, my days of distro-hopping I had thought were long behind me. But, it seems the warnings of those people who highlighted the various problems with SystemD are being proven to be prescient.

archinstall is adding age verification.
https://github.com/archlinux/archinstall/pull/4290

i do recommend you use artix with openrc anyway since systemd has already implemented a birthdate field to user records
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/40954

and also since the arch linux maintainers are being particularly hush-hush about this (see first link, locked as "too heated" when there was basically zero heat, apart from CelestifyX making that final meaningless quip)

read all about it... okay time to do the tags

Garuda Linux Says No to Age Verification Outside Legal Requirement

Arch-based Garuda Linux clarifies its position on age verification and addresses concerns regarding systemd userdb and data management.

@c401mh3 #ArchLinux now reportedly censoring people who criticize #AgeVerification and one guy named Dylan Taylor who is pushing it everywhere - he is the one who pushed it to #systemd and he is also trying to push it to #ArchInstall ... Plus #ArchLinux forum moderators delete all posts related to age verification debate. I don't know what the fuck they are trying to achieve, but they are destroying their reputation in real time. A lot of Arch users are furious.

#ThinkPad T480 acquired, #ArchLinux installed, and everything is now good to go! Don’t get me wrong—I still love my T430s. But the T480 is faster, lighter, and has a significantly better screen, making it a better #Linux daily driver. Can’t wait to go places (literally and figuratively) with it!

A onor del vero, subito dopo ho riprovato... Ho modificato una sola risposta e #debian è uscito al posto di @alpinelinux ... Ma al primo posto è rimasto #archlinux.... Mi toccherà provarlo :)
