A few images from my dive with New England Aquarium Dive Club at Folly Cove in Gloucester, MA last weekend. Conditions were not great, but still doable for macrophotography!

The Tadpole nebula is bright and colorful nebula and right next to the Flaming Star nebula. In fact, I reused the data from my two panel mosaic of the pair and added even more dual narrowband data to really pop the Tadpole nebula itself. This nebula gets its name from the small bright pillars that extend out from the bottom left of the blue region.

This is NGC 1788 located off the right side of Orion. I like the colors and texture in this region, but processing an image like this is really hard. Even with a good amount of exposure time, it's hard to draw out the dusty details from the background. The Ha data mixes in here nicely as it pops the red nebulosity.

Staff from a youth program asked if we would collect some critters - we agreed and collected nudibranchs, crabs, and a scallop. The current was pulling the whole time but this was a fun dive!

Nasty surface conditions and bad viz at Fort Constitution, New Hampshire. Lots of Onchidoris bilamellata, Dendronotus frondosus, tiny sculpin, Tenellia gymnota, Cuthonella concinna, you name it.

I didn't spend a ton of time imaging this object, but it's another fairly bright, hydrogen-rich area near Rosette Nebula called Sh2-280. I used NarrowbandNormalization to boost the blue oxygen and then played with the curves and colors masks to get the red and fiery orange look.

Do you want to get notifications about your long-running astrophotography processes? I've been using Ground Station in N.I.N.A. for a few years, but The Space Koala recently introduced some scripting for PixInsight to send notifications as well. I contributed the Pushover integration, which is working great!

Here's how you can set it up for yourself: https://blog.briangweber.com/pushover-setup/

April baseball in Boston is often dreary or cold, but the beginning of the season is always an exciting time. I had the opportunity to walk on the field at Fenway back in April 2011 and snapped this artsy shot from center field. The Sox missed the playoffs by a single game that year despite a 90-win season. We'll see if this year's team can put something together, but they are looking very "mid" as the kids say.

This nebula is called Lower's Nebula and is located in the arm/club of Orion. Like many similar nebulae, this one is dominated by red hydrogen emissions, so I rolled with that in processing, using the Foraxx color palette to pop some orange in the center where there is a bit of blue oxygen emission.

Lower's Nebula in Foraxx - AstroBin

An image on AstroBin.

Abell 31 is a large and dim planetary nebula in the southern sky trailing Orion. I piled up nearly 70 hours of integration time on this target with 10 minute narrowband subs and it's looking pretty good.

Abell 31 (big integration time!) - AstroBin

Given my wide field of view, there are not many objects for me to shoot after Orion disappears below the horizon. Enter Abell 31! This large, but dim planetary nebula gives me several more hours of im...
