Tel-Aviv, last night. I've been to almost all the protests, in Tel-Aviv or Ramat Gan nearby where I live. Now we breathe for a few we weeks. To continue the metaphor, no-one is holding their breath. To add another, we were at the edge of the cliff, peering over at the abyss. No we keep a watchful eye over Passover, which is also known as the Festival of Freedom/Liberty, followed by the Days of Remembrance and Independence. Then we'll see.

Yesterday I covered for four hours in 5th Grade. Early on a pupil said something along the line of Germans = Nazis. The lesson plan changed. The question became, "Why did the Nazis rise in Germany?" It started, briefly, with Egypt, Babylon, Persia and Greece (which they've been studying). Then Rome and this... (see blackboard).
Only halfway through did a pupil point out that it was #HolocaustMemorialDay

As a scientist, we really need to promote the true meaning of Darwin’s work.
Greedy capitalists jumped on the few sentences of “survival of the fittest.” Whilst if you actually read his work, it is cooperation that allows a species to thrive.

Time for my #introduction!
I was born in Tzfat/Safed in the Galilee in northern #Israel / #Palestine, but grew up mostly in #NorthLondon (#COYG). I studied #philosophy, #politics, etc. in Manchester and #TelAviv. After bouncing around, I somehow found my calling as a #teacher in a #waldorf school. Before I had two wonderful kids and a mixed Canaanite dog, I used to volunteer in the #WestBank, esp. with #RabbisForHumanRights. I mention that as pure virtue signalling, cos I don't want no trouble.

Hello!
Any advice for dealing with bullies?
...a colleague, not a pupil.
She's the "Head of Pedagogy", which seems to mean whatever she wants it to. I'm in my second year now at the school. Last year she made my life hell with constant negativity about my work and undermining me in front of pupils and colleagues. Now she's mostly moved on to a newer, younger, prettier colleague, who also happens to be a man.
Any thoughts?
