@uditischler I went from giving exams to a form of self grading based on a detailed rubric. It took a few weeks for some to get it, but the majority of students did quite a good job. Every 2 weeks, they had to write an essay (using the rubric) to support their grade. I gave feedback on why I agreed or disagreed which led to more accurate self grading over the course of the semester. It was also a good way to get to know the students better.
