Right. There's been a lot of talk about #AltText and it's place here on the fediverse of late.
Whether you're blind, deaf or sighted, I'd be curious to not only have you fill out the relevant choice, but feel free to respond to this with more detail if you like.

Now with more and more #instances upgraded to version 4.2.0 of #Mastodon, you can compare full text #search on different ones: Having multiple accounts, I did – and yes, the differences are rather big.

Once again it seems clear, the bigger your instance the better for finding content in the #fediverse. Especially for journalists, this also implies, that an instance by your organization might not be the best idea. Something like journa.host could make more sense.

Pour gérer notre serveur nous utilisons une approche qui s'appelle "Infrastructure as Code" (IaC). Ça veut dire que toute notre infrastructure est configurée en utilisant du code et aucune étape manuelle (enfin presque) n'est nécessaire afin de configurer ou mettre à jour le serveur.

Ein Kollege meinte heute, dass #Bluesky besser aussehe und besser zu bedienen sei als #Mastodon. Ohne den Vergleich zu kennen, meinte ich, dass das sicher auch an der App liegt, die er nutzt.
Er nutzt #iOS und ich weiß, ich habe die Frage schon mehrfach gestellt, aber hier ändert sich ja auch andauernd etwas: Also welche #App kann man ihm fürs iPhone empfehlen, damit #Mastodon besonders gut funktioniert (und vll. auch noch besonders hübsch ist bzw. hilfreiche Extras hat)?

Ist unsere Gesellschaft noch zu retten?

Ich sitze gerade in einer S-Bahn in München, und muss mit anhören, wie sich zwei S-Bahn Wachen mit einem leicht angetrunkenen Italiener unterhalten. Letzterer erzählt von den "Bimbos", die in Afrika ankommen, und dass man auf die Straße gehen sollte, um die "los zu werden".
Wie reagieren die S-Bahn Wachen? Sie stimmen zu????
Wie soll man das wieder einfangen, wenn die Leute sich nicht einmal mehr schämen, so etwas auszusprechen?

Dear #Linux Community,

I'm looking for a kids friendly linux OS for my 6 & 4 yo children. After checking several pages it seems to me, that 10 yes ago there had been much more offers than now. Most of the old projects are inactive.

I want to start with netbooks for them. At the moment I run the Raspberry Pi Desktop on one of them and it is okay. But it is not optimised for children by default...

So, suggestions are warmly welcome
