That's a deflection again. Nobody doubts that technically both #activitypub and #atproto support decentralization.

But the point is that *in practice* basically all #bluesky users are concentrated on infrastructure of a single company under US jurisdiction, while #mastodon users are distributed over many servers in many jurisdictions all over the world.

The consequences can be seen with Mississippi.

ok just wrote 500 words of my Bluesky/ATProto paper in an hour or two! Only 1500 left for my essay to reach the minimum requirements for submission (which I need to do in 4.5 hours, or I fail the class 🫩) (if anyone has something interesting I could write about regarding #atproto or #bluesky, say!)

I’m glad techbro viral memetic entities aren’t that fit or competitive on #Mastodon, unlike #Bluesky.

That’s the strength of community-based niches with solid moderation. I like the AT protocol, but the culture of the Atmosphere and how fast toxicity spreads makes me stick to sandboxed use.

Propagandists are trying to influence people in the #fediverse, especially around age verification & protocols. Without a viral vector for spread, it dies. Defederation cuts the body of the hydra off.
