I am disappointed at the visceral negative reaction at the all-female crew of the Blue Origin NS-31 flight.

Granted not all of them are scientists or astronauts, but should we not admire or encourage female non-scientists? Granted some of them are rich good-looking celebrities, but they have a large young following. What's the harm if they spread some joy and science among the youth?

Have we become too cynical? Do we instinctively look for faults, esp. among women?

Please stop calling newsletters "Substacks" --

The vast majority of blogs are created using WordPress software. No one calls their blog a "WordPress" for the very good reason that there are other ways to create and publish blogs.

So if you've been gaslighted into calling someone's newsletter their "Substack' just because they use that platform, please stop. You're just doing PR for a company that manifestly doesn't deserve it.

I've started posting on LinkedIn all the unconstitutional shit Trump and Musk are doing to undermine the security and integrity of our government. Mainly because that crowd needs to hear it most. It's incredible how many people in the infosec space are still defending the actions of DOGE and its dear leader(s). And they're not all crypto bros and AI peddlers; we're talking about people in some pretty important roles, tech-wise.

But at least when they reply with the inevitable "stay in your lane" or "I used to like you when you stayed out of politics," they are on record as complicit and totally okay with what is going on.

Visited #CelebrationPark in #FederalWay today and walked a chunk of the #BPATrail to clear my head.

Found some nice little mosses and shelf #fungi before I got a bit cold and went home. Gotta find sanity where you can these days.
